The guide regrouped high on the run. When the fifth skier approached the regroup site a whumpf was heard and an avalanche was initiated above. The entire group was swept into the sparse forested area adjacent to a larger avalanche path. Two guests were fully buried and were pronounced dead on the scene. Three guests and the guide were partially buried, sustaining critical and non-critical injuries. All injured parties were airlifted to the Invermere Hospital, where one of the critically injured guests did not survive.
